Behind the scenes at the PPP

Its easy to forget what it takes to pull the PPP together each year.  Below are a few examples of what it takes to make the event happen, and how our supporters’ generosity means every penny of your entry fee can go direct to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ben and his team from Safe Access Solutions were on site at silly o’clock yesterday morning erecting the racking for 400 bikes, the stage and building the pontoon for kayak launch and retrieval.  Next year we’ll get these boys to contribute to the PPP calendar 😉

Kingsgate Tennis Club donate the use of their facilities as our PPP hub every year, and Winchester College allow us to use their fields and stretch of the Itchen Navigation for the Kayak leg.  Biffa are providing the bins FOC, and Ice Creative designed and maintain our WebSite and Online Registration system.

A few of us popped down to Northgate Vehicle Hire to collect their donated Luton Vans for the weekend, then off to our great friends at New Forest Activities, who look after our kayaks and help us on the water every year, to collect kayaks, with further pick ups of more kayaks donated for the weekend by Woodmill Activities, Liquid Logistcs and this year Canoe England

We’re off to sign up the bike and run routes tonight, then up early tomorrow to mark out the field, transition areas and make sure everything’s in shape for the day registration at 0700.

A special mention to our main sponsor Forretsers,  for their financial contribution which covers anything we can’t get for free.  You may see one of the partners, Lloyd, leading out the cyclists on his tandem, with J.D. stoking.  Also to Condor for their donation, Import Services for fielding and entry 34 of their staff and raising an enormous amount through Sponsorship on JustGiving.

This year our indefatigable compere Ralphie will be joined on the mic by the gorgeous Georgie Palmer.  They will be their to share any stories, or messages, you’d like broadcast on the day.

All the stands you will see on the field contribute their profits, including, but not restricted to Coffee Cruiser baristas Clive and Claire,  Sammy from the Bell Inn on the BBQ and bottle bar, Georgie gives free sports massage (doations accepted), Hargroves Cycles, tweaks and advice, om for FastTrack EMS Personal Training is donating prizes and running trial sessions, as are Fitique.  Alton Sports will be providing the main prizes and some amazing offers through the voucher you’ll find in their goody bag.

Thanks to you all, and anyone who I may of missed for making the Macmillan PPP Winchester’s favourite triathlon!!
